Golden Valley Community Club Meeting June 15

The Golden Valley Community Club met on Monday, 6/15, at 7PM at the clubhouse. Our Guest Speakers were from the Sheriff's Department, Officers McClooney and Lieutenant Atkins shared information about the Rutherford County Sheriff''s Department initiative Project Lifesaver.

"Project Lifesaver Protects Wandering Patients, Gives Peace of Mind to Caregivers, Families and Communities. Project Lifesaver is an innovative rapid response program aiding victim's and families suffering from Alzheimer's disease or related disorders such as Downs Syndrome or autism. By forming partnerships with local law enforcement and public safety organizations, Project lifesaver deploys a specially trained team with the most reliable technology available to quickly locate and return wandering adults and children to their families and caregivers.

This depends on technology and requires the patient to wear a transmitting device. About the size of a large man's watch, this transmitter enables law enforcement to hone in on a signal and locate the missing person fairly quickly. The statistics are interesting, "Search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes. In over 1000 searches, there have been no reported serious injuries or deaths. Recovery times average 30 minutes."

Donna Petty and Karen McCall considered making a motion to purchase one of the tracking devices to help with the program, however, so many members were on vacation, kindly decided to wait and put it to the membership later.

There being few, if any, officers present, we did not have a Secretary's report, we did not have a Treasurer's report, we did not have a business meeting.

There were 20 people present.
